scene of discourse [final]

this is my final design of the first three iterations i decided to stick with the design that expressed both moods. so in assessing the composition again i decided to make it dynamic but with softer lines and more color.

scene of discourse [iterations]

dissolving ink
so my two words to describe the scene of discourse is melancholy and dynamic movement.
with the first one i combined a serene landscape with fog and pen ink in water into this photo that appears to be i think somewhat haunted, but all of my scenes look somewhat haunted.  the second is snow scenes and a window, these one sort of looks like depression i wanted the tree limbs to provide the movement and the window to set the mood.  the last one is an old abandoned farm house with a tornado behind it. i wanted the tornado to show the movement and the house to represent the mood.

i feel like all my iterations need some work to come up with a final.  i think the mood is best represented in the window scene and the movement is best represented in the ink scene. the old house scene to me looks the most haunted but it tells a story of its own and to me shows this helpless depressed form in the path of destruction with in a deeper sense explains both words. but all in all, they all still need something to make the mood more profound.

pattern perception

i used the urban painting below to abstract the pattern above.  the task was to create an victorian pattern but i feel in the end it went more towards and native american pattern perhaps because of the color scheme which might look different in grayscale.

Computing in Architectural Design

After reading the article, it becomes clear to me that technology has been calculating since before time. Most of the time I take for granted how much mathematics, and engineering goes into a design. Through the coarse of this major I have learned how to draw from an artistic point of view to the design, rendering point of view. It was difficult and I am still learning how to impose details.
The computer now of days is relied on for layout, rendering, and even form. I feel the computer has many good qualities as well as bad qualities. When using the computer you can analyze a space more in detail.
People can be added to show the movement of individuals in a space. I have trouble with drawing people in a space they have a nice quality but appear to be stagnant in some cases. Most of the computer renderings I have seen allow me to be in the space as if I actually took a picture.
However computer renderings enhance a portfolio and help in analyzing a design proposal in a firm but, I find that a lot of people really enjoy my drawings and are always asking me, “how did you draw that?”. So all in all I believe computers have made a large impact in the way we design and analyze designs not just in interior architecture but also in product design.
